Local Ministries

Below are the local ministries in the North Boroughs Area that The Shepherd's Door has supported through our revenue sharing program.

His Place

Since the early 1970s, "His Place" Contact Center has been providing a positive alternative to life on the streets of the inner-city. Originally conceived as a "drop in" center for the growing number of street people in Pittsburgh, "His Place" has touched the lives of countless children and teens who have come looking for a safe, friendly place where they are welcomed. Over the years, programs at "His Place" have grown from weekend youth group meetings and Bible studies to a full schedule of activities.

Some of the programs provided by "His Place" include Mom's Prayer Group; a Writing Class for young people serious about improving their writing skills; Storytime where kindergarten and first grade children learn to love books as well as learning Christian values; Reading Clubs; and programs geared specifically towards elementary boys and girls as well as programs for Jr. and Sr. High students.
